Blog Post Ceramics
Q3 - Relief Tiles
Take a picture of your relief tile and add it to the blog. (If you want to wait to upload the picture until your tile is finished that is OK)
1. In your post explain to me what a “relief” tile is.
2. Tell me about your tile and why you chose the subject matter you did
3. Tell me what “additive” parts on a relief are and where you chose to add them on your tile.
4. Tell me what “subtractive” parts on a relief tile are and where you choose to add them on your tile.
5. Also tell me where you added texture to your tile and whether or not you think it enhanced your design.
If you didn’t add any or all of those elements, you need to tell me WHY you didn’t add them. What well thought out decisions did you make to exclude these things from your tile.
6. Are you happy with how your relief has turned out? Is it as you envisioned it?
7. If painted, where did you add your own colors and add value? If you didn’t do these things, why not? What artistic reasoning do you have for eliminating them?
8. If you glazed it, why did you choose the glazes that you did?
When finished, submit the link to your blog on my website under the blog tab!!!!
YOU SHOULD WRITE YOUR BLOG POST ON A GOOGLE DOC AND THEN COPY AND PASTE IT INTO YOUR BLOG. THIS WAY IF SOMETHING WEIRD HAPPENS AND IT DOES NOT PUBLISH, YOU WILL STILL HAVE A COPY OF IT. TRUST ME… THIS HAPPENS!!!

Tell me which hand-building technique you used.
Briefly explain this method of handbuilding

What part was the hardest, what part was the easiest?
How did you choose to finish this project (which media...ex. glaze? paint?)
-Why did you choose this media?
Do you think your skills or ideas have improved since the beginning of the semester?
-If so, state how? If now, why?
